An international dimension

Energaïa, the international rendezvous dedicated to renewable energies and green building, has clearly made its mark as the sector’s leading exhibition and business meeting point for the French market, for European Regional and local authorities and for countries around the Mediterranean basin and beyond.

Thanks to its international dimension, Energaïa offers a global approach to renewable energies and energy efficiency in order to meet the ambitions, needs and challenges related to sustainable development...

... In France

European directives, Grenelle de l'Environnement - France is introducing an ambitious policy to achieve its objective of 23% renewable energy in energy consumption by 2020 by introducing miscellaneous application methods for buildings, transport, industry and agriculture. All sectors are involved and the authorities (regional, local, municipalities) are in the front line!

The latest announcement of the french government on May 15, 2009 presented the French Solar Fields plan with a first investment of 1,5 billion euros for the 3 coming years. Each French Region must have at least one Solar field and some Regions (mainly south) will have a minimum of two of 10 MW each.

France is aiming to multiply by 400 its solar photovoltaic sector by 2020…!

ENERGAIA, an event which mobilises authorities, industrialists, investors and energy producers.

Among the partners

The Eco Maires - French Association of Mayors

"Energy is a dimension that must be included in any local project, in an international context where increased raw materials and reduced natural resources link the ecological and financial cost more than ever to all public action. There must be a consistent approach between key players (elected representatives, State, association, industrialists) and we should make it our business to participate in discussion and meeting opportunities like Energaïa."
Guy GEOFFROY, President

... In Europe

The 3 x 20 objective applies to regions and territories. The European Union countries have committed collectively to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, ensuring that 20% of the overall energy consumption is based on renewable energies and achieving 20% energy efficiency by 2020.

... In Mediterranean countries

The Euro-Mediterranean area will increase over the next decade from 200 million inhabitants to 400 million, tripling energy consumption. This development is only possible if a solid partnership exists between Europe and the countries in the Mediterranean basin.

More than ever Energaïa is emerging as a forum for exchange of views between Europe and the Mashriq and Maghreb countries emphasised by the Union's Mediterranean projects.
