EDITORIAL
"ENERGAÏA 2008 is already shaping up to offer the promise of an excellent vintage, which will more than ever meet the needs of companies either looking for new markets or seeking to consolidate their market position in France and abroad. The Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council, the event’s main partner, has renewed its support for ENERGAÏA, as have a large number of national and international partners.
With six months still to go before the event opens, over 100 exhibitors are already registered, including a large number of foreign companies, from Germany notably.
In its capacity as a major international meeting point for the industry, ENERGAÏA 2008 will be developing its two key sectors: territorial authorities and regional authorities in Europe and also Mediterranean countries, with the Maghreb which will be the object of special focus given the number of development projects in North African countries in the sectors of renewable energies, green buildings and energy management.
In order to ensure a logical distribution of the exhibition areas, we have dedicated halls to solar technologies, wind energy, wood energy and green building. Furthermore, to ensure optimal visiting time during the event, ‘expert circuits’ have been established to enable professionals to quickly find the products and technologies they want.
On Friday 12th December the event will be open to both professionals and also the public. This will give those present an opportunity to meet with the professional bodies and manufacturers and to enquire into the potential applications of renewable energies for the home. Public day will be the object of a great deal of media attention with a large number of events planned in partnership with the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council".

Conference programme 2008 : an international dimension
Interview
Stéphane POUFFARY (ADEME),
Scientific Committee President
What themes will be promoted by ENERGAÏA in 2008 at European level?
The 2008 edition is looking particularly strategic. At European level, the Renewable Energies Directive, which is currently under preparation, will by then be in its finalisation phase. It should be also noted that European negotiations in the scope of the 3 x 20% commitment by 2020 will bring RE and EE concerns into the core of the political agenda.
And at national level?
At national level, the huge momentum generated by the decisions undertaken under the Grenelle and their concrete implementation will also strengthen the different stakeholders’ interest and involvement in these topics. Finally, France, in the framework of the European Union Presidency, during the second half of 2008, has already clearly introduced energy and climate issues as a priority.
What is the general orientation of the event’s programme?
The Scientific Committee intends to suggest new exchange topics to ENERGAÏA’s partners. Keeping in mind the Euro Mediterranean perspective and the “Territories and Regions” approach, we will extend our considerations on the building sector to include financing issues and policies and tools for practical implementation. As for the 2007 edition, sharing experience and exchange on best practices will be the thread of our future discussions”.

The meeting place for international decision-makers!
International Business Forum
The B to B Business Forum is a platform for bringing together offers and demands with a view to developing business opportunities and contributing to companies’ international deployment. It is open to any company from the target countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Mauritania, France, South Africa, Madagascar, Middle East, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, India, China) which is interested in developing marketing or technological partnerships in the renewable energies sector. In 2007, the ENERGAÏA Business Forum brought together 70 buyers, international decision makers and market leaders (38% from France and 62% from other countries) who optimized their presence by meeting a series of pre-selected exhibitors within the framework of individual and scheduled appointments. This represented some 310 business appointments over just two days.

 ENERGAÏA international buyers contacts
Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
The “Dubai International Conference on Sustainable Construction” congress was held on the 8th and 9th June along with the “Zayed International Prize for the Environment”. These represent significantly important events in the Gulf and for the United Arab Emirates. ENERGAÏA’s organisers travelled to Dubai to meet with sector leaders and invite architects, business leaders and official institutions to take part in ENERGAÏA 2008. The United Arab Emirates is very active in environment related questions, notably with regards to sustainable development, and has launched a vast program: construction of “zero carbon” cities (the MASDAR initiative), eco-construction and productions of renewable energies equipment.

The Languedoc-Roussillon:
a region of energies!

"The first edition of the ENERGAÏA trade exhibition was a tremendous success and established European regional authorities as leading players in the development of energy efficiency and renewable energies, and established the Languedoc-Roussillon Region as a key player in this field, resolutely turned towards the Mediterranean, at the cutting edge of these new markets. The Languedoc-Roussillon Region has decided to reinforce its backing to the ENERGAÏA trade exhibition, a key forum for meetings and innovation aimed at the industries’ professionals, designed to foster a long-lasting, state-of-the-art development of the market for green buildings and renewable energies.” More +...
